Almost...... most overrated not Lindholm, he was never slated for the top line, it was earned, plays with an edge, uses the body and plays with emotion. The most overrated Flame is Monaham, consistently avoids contact, leads from the rear and disappears in the face of physical pressure. |

I get where you're coming from with Monahan. He was very disappointing for, like, half the season. I just think a lot of people turned on him, so didn't seem fitting to put him in overrated. I understand your case though. |

An overall question on this. I know everyone wants to suddenly "hate" on Monahan, but has there been ANY news on injuries after the locker cleanout? I have a "funny feeling" that he may have been hurt again and tried to play his way through it. If he was, this is starting to become an uneasy trend for the current #1 center. I also believe the "prove it" year has to go to Big Save Dave Rittich. This was his first year showing starter potential. I am hoping this wasn't a "blip" and that he improves next year over this one.

Treliving, Monahan, and Peters all gave different answers about whether or not Monahan was dealing with an injury. Monahan said he wasn't.
If Monahan was dealing with a cracked thumb, the team is run by idiots. He was playing like garbage for months and was a detriment to the team. The Flames had more or less wrapped up the division with like 20 games to go. Why didn't they sit him to heal?

If he was, in fact, playing with a cracked thumb, then I agree that he needed time to heal. I guess that would also depend on when it would have happened though. It just seemed that after Johnny went off against New Jersey (sorry Todd) the whole line went into the tank for some time and basically forgot to come back out. Something happened...and I don't think it was all on Monahan. To a lesser degree, the "prove it" also might be applied to the entire number one line. |

I'd say Brodie is most overrated. When playing with Gio, he's a top pairing D but away from Gio, like he was for much of last year, he's pretty average.
My pick to take a leap forward is Valimaki. IMO, it'll be tough to keep him out of the top 4 next season. Him and Andersson future top pairing. |

It's why I believe that Brodie is heading east sometime during the offseason.

Brodie is a good choice, too much was expected from a third pairing defenseman defending 1st line superstars. If anything, Brodie should cement Giordano's claim to the Norris trophy. |

What about trying to do some swap with LA?
Carter probably does not want to go through a rebuild. Have not watched the guy play much lately but would add some grit. Toffoli would be an option as well. |

I would rather make a play for Getzlaff or Perry. Neal would have to go back the other way but either guy I have hated because of how dirty they play & score goals on you.

and to be honest, this draft is super f*cky. I imagine picks 3-15 are a clusterf*ck from what everyone is predicting or had predicted. It wouldn't surprise me if one of those two swedish defenseman were picked though. |

Yeah most Norris candidates are over rated. I bet the Oilers would like to have 1 or 2 over rated Dmen on their team too. |

Well yeah that would depend on price, I would assume Neal would be going back the other way but what goes with him could be deal breakers for sure lol. Gotta be an easier way to move Neal. |

Most overrated is definitely Brodie, which is actually a good thing right now because it should make him easier to move (assuming of course other GMs also overrate him).
Also I know Monahan has become the scapegoat but let's stop acting like he's the only member of the top line that disappeared down the stretch. I don't think it's fair to pin it all on Monahan. It's one thing if he was struggling but Gaudreau and Lindholm were continuing to light it up but that isn't what happened. The entire top line was invisible for a good stretch. I don't know why, but they were. There's tons of blame to go around for that. |
